Good Tamper for Mr. Coffee ECM160
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Fits the 2 cup mark on the Mr. Coffee ECM160. If you try to make less than 2 cups it won’t fit. This is the minimum I make so it’s not a big deal for me.
Not 2″.
Rating:3 out of 5 stars
The tamper was not 2″ as stated, it is 5cm, which makes it a little bit smaller than what I need,
This of course means that I am not able to tamp down the edges without removing the tamper, and repositioning it towards the edge(s).
Doing that often causes that which I have already pressed down to lossen up a little, so I must remove the tamper to reposition it very gingerly,
Seller should state that it is 5cm, and not 2″!
Now I have to look for another tamper.
Other than that somewhat annoying issue, I would be happy with this tamper.
Works for the Seaco Nina

I have a Seaco Nina and the large end works great. Can’t beat the price either. When tamping it down, rotate the tamper than remove it or else you get some grounds stuck on the tamper.

made of good metal- worked great. its a tamper so there isnt much i can say about it.
Not for Gaggia
Rating:3 out of 5 stars
In spite of Amazon tryig to match this to Gaggia machines, it does not work. Diameter is too small for pro filter-holders.
solid tamper for the money
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
Great tamper for the money. Fits the portafilter of my Delonghi EC155 just right, which is a plus since that portafilter is a non-standard size.
The tamper is nothing fancy, but it works just fine!
easy to use tamper
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I use this tamper for my Saeco espresso machine. The small end fits the purpose, and I can tamp the grounds with enough force to make perfect cappuccinos. It’s very easy on the hands.
A tamper is definitely necessary

I received the Mr. Coffee ECM-160 4-Cup Steam Espresso Machine [...] for Christmas this year. I have really been enjoying it! However, I was reading reviews online, and so many people suggested getting an espresso tamper. Being that I am very new to brewing my own espresso (used to reeeaaally frequent the starbucks), I was a little skeptical. I was pretty content just using the flat side of the tablespoon that came with the machine since it SEEMED to build pressure just fine. Then I received an Amazon gift card and thought I should give this tamper a try since it was so inexpensive.
This morning was the first time I used it and it makes SUCH a difference. I can actually fit 4 TBS of espresso for 4 cups of espresso! It creates a sort of “puck” of espresso. You can see a big difference before you even start brewing, but then you can taste a big difference too. It is definitely worth getting if your espresso machine did not come with one!
Size matters
Rating:2 out of 5 stars
The base of this tamper is smaller than described, I measured it at 2 3/16 ” (between 55 and 56mm). It’s too small for the Saeco Nina Bar machine that I just bought. As another reviewer mentioned, the side rim has 2 ridges (at opposing points of the circle) so even if there were a basket that fit it snugly, it would be impossible to do the rotation bit. I bought it locally; there were two copies, both with those ridges.
Thankfully the bottom is perfectly flat.
Tamper tantrum

Had to file smaller disk to fit to 2 cup level in Mr. Coffee espresso maker. Once that was done helps make a perfect cup of espresso.
Save your $$

Because of the ridge along the side of this cheaply made tamper it doesn’t fit. Bad tooling.

Couldn’t find one anywhere locally so I went to AMAZON.com and there it was. Good price and in two days I had it in my hands. Good job AMAZON.com.
Great kitchen tool.

I have a Mr. Coffee espresso maker (not sure about the model, but it’s a pretty basic machine.) I measured the inside of the filter before buying this and it was about 53 mm – the small end of this tamper fits perfectly. I lost the plastic scoop that came with the machine and was using a spoon before purchasing this… never fully understood the importance of even tamping until I tried the difference. I have no experience with more expensive tampers, but what more could ask for? This is flat and smooth and sturdy… unless you’re looking for a small work of art instead of a kitchen tool, this will suit just fine.
Very nice

I have been using Starbucks tamper and this one is far better than it, it suites my coffee handle.
Casting Issues But Overall a Nifty Tool
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
The tamper I received wasn’t finished properly and the ridges from it’s casting prevent it from being of use until filed off. Not that big a deal for me personally but it might be for someone else.
With rough edges filed off, this fits my Krups espresso machine perfectly.
As mentioned by other reviewers, THIS IS NOT DISHWASHER SAFE even though it states it is on the tag and on this page. Dishwasher detergent and aluminum items do not like each other. Aluminum will corrode very rapidly. It doesn’t take much to clean by hand anyway. As a side note, never put cast iron items in your dishwasher either, they will rust heavily immediately.
