Good but not perfect

I like using this product. I think Bialetti have done a great engineering job and there is a place for it.
However, it’s a good product but did not fully live up to my hopes. Perhaps I was unrealistic in my expectations, but I thought the process would deliver a coffee similar to one produced in a proper espresso machine.
The coffee certainly tastes a great deal better than one produced any other way, save the above mentioned cappuccino machine. However, I can detect a slight burned taste and I suspect this comes from the prolonged heating of the milk via the steam, which has to travel through the coffee basket. So, I set out to test this theory by preheating the milk for a minute and ten seconds in a microwave, hoping that there would now be less prolonged exposure of coffee-flavored steam for the milk. So far I have only done this once but it seems to improve the taste. I will test this some more.
So, all in all, you do get a good unit at a reasonable price (although if it wasn’t for portability – I travel with it – I’d have chosen a pump-based machine). It is very portable but you do need a stove top, so not all hotel rooms provide that.
I’d probably buy it again, but I would have benefited from more realistic expectations. After all, if it was as good as a full-blown machine there would hardly be a market for it.

For $73, it’s better to spend another $100 & get a quality machine with a warranty…
Cappuccino Maker
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
Since coming back from visiting Italy and having a Cappuccino every afternoon, I started looking for a way to make them at home. I did not want to invest in a huge cumbersome unit, but found this one on Amazon for a very reasonable price. Now my husband and I go for afternoon walks and come back and have our Cappuccino. At first it was a little difficult to judge when it was ready and hot enough
but after the 4th or 5th time we got it right. I recommend this for the convenience of storage space but not for capacity as it only makes 2 cups at a time.
PERFECT–don’t be afraid to get this!

I have been researching this product for a month or so on various sites. I finally bit the bullet and purchased the aluminum model. I can’t rave enough about it. I was almost afraid to purchase it, based on many of the negative reviews. However, I did NOT want to spend the $200+ for a fancy machine.
I know the directions say to throw away the first 3 pots to “season” it, but WOW. I loved it! I was shocked at the amount of froth that this little pot produced. I watched the video on the Williams Sonoma site, and I know that made a big difference in my ability to do it right the first time. I followed their directions very carefully–don’t overfill, wipe away any stray grounds, and don’t put on a large burner. I set the heat on medium high, and I used 2% milk. I heard the WOOSH sound, and saw milk bubbling just to the top of the pour spout. Honestly, this was the best cup I have had in a long time.
I highly recommend this nifty little product based on its ability to produce a great cup of cappuccino. Clean up was easy too–I made sure to clean it right after to ensure no milk build up.
BTW, my mother recently purchased a really nice $200 cappuccino/espresso machine. I think this pot was easier to make and clean up than hers. What a great surprise!
Freakin’ Delicious

I just bought this today after wanting it for the last year and I am not disappointed. First of all, it’s cute. More importantly, it does exactly what it says it does and it does it perfectly. The only slight pain in the butt is dismantling the parts to thoroughly clean it, but it’s worth it. I only wish it was big enough to make two servings at a time!
Wow! Delicious cappuccino!

This worked perfect for me the very first time! I have been waiting for this for a while now, and finally received it as a Christmas present. So far, it has been very easy to use and makes a big cup for one:) What a great idea!
I HAD to have one

and then I didn’t use it for a good long while.
Now, fairly often. Although I must say I use it to make something more like an Americano than a latte or cappucino. That is, just put water into the top. Might be a little safer than trying to use milk, even in the top. It makes about one and a half mugs of the size I use.
The person who said it was a bit fiddly is right. And I’m very glad I can get parts for it here.
Best Latte Maker

I love the Bialetti Mukka Express Maker. My old one had a black bottom that peeled. The all polished aluminum is a far better product. They have also improved the screw on top. And it makes the best latte!
Dangerous!

I have been using the Mukka Express for about two month now. When it works, it works great. Sometimes, however, the coffee doesn’t come through at all and I’m pouring a cup of hot milk into my cup. Sometimes it explodes and starts pouring all over my stove. There seems to be no rhyme or reason as to why this is happening. I’m doing everything according to the video instructions. This morning the hot milk was just pouring out of the spout. No foam, just a fountain of scalding hot milk. This product is dangerous and makes a mess. I wish I could get my $ back!
I AM IN LOVE WITH MY MUKKA
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I simply followed the video that was included and I read the directions – and I have been truly delighted and in love with my mukka cappucino maker.
It makes wonderful creamy, yummy soy cappucinos and soy lattes. The only slight change I made concerning the instructions is I cook my cappucinos on medium low vs medium high heat which takes a bit longer but it seems it makes more microfoam at a lower temperature. Also, I leave the pot on the burner after the pressure button pops and until the frothing sizzles stop making noise.
For lattes, once again, see the video for “creamy coffee” but replace the milk with soy milk. Yummmmmmmmmm.
My mukka soy cappucinos, hot and iced soy lattes are truly as yummy and satisfying as Starbucks (and I adore Starbucks) but without the financial guilt!
Wishing you good luck and good lattes!
Don’t be scared of bad reviews! Great little cappuccino/latte maker!!!

I originally purchased this a gift for my parents, but they already had one, so they let me have it, and I am soooo happy I kept it! Yes, you MUST follow the directions exactly, but once you do it a couple of times, it will become so easy!
From the very first time I used this, it has NEVER overflowed because I never overfilled it and I used medium heat. It has been way easier than I thought even though all of the negative reviews left me skeptical, but I went in with no fear and an open mind, and it has been sooo easy to use! Just follow the directions and you will be okay!
My only problem was the heat: the cappuccino or latte was always luke warm. So I went back to amamzon reviews and found someone had said to leave it on LOW heat for about 1 min. after the button pushes up to get extra steam/heat for the milk. This produced a hot drink. Mine did not burn the milk because the heat was on LOW and I watched it for this final minute.
So, as others have said:
1. Watch youtube or instructional DVD, especially helpful to figure out the pressure valve
2. Follow directions EXACTLY
3. One deviation: leave heat on LOW after button pops up to heat milk thoroughly
4. Rinse parts immediately-no soap(AFTER you finish your drink!)
5. It is a 2-COFFEE CUP maker (as in 4oz cup, not 8oz) so it makes 2 european cappuccino-size drinks, or 1 regular mug
All in all, a great little product that is econmical and easy to use! Don’t let the bad reviews scare you! Easy to clean too, just take apart and rinse under tap! (how difficult is that?)
Also, Amazon has the best price I have seen-$99 elsewhere.
no more Starbucks!

I was given this by a friend from Italy, and all I can say is wow! I have never liked homemade coffee as much as buying it at a cafe, but not any more. I make it morning and night. The other reviews are correct, if you put the correct amount of water and milk, and tighten it just right, it makes a perfect cup of coffee. For me, it’s a single cup because I want an American sized coffee! It took a couple of times to figure out the trick of unscrewing the two parts…remove the frother to release the pressure and then it’s easy to open and clean.

I bought this thinking its simple and straight-forward. Add water, coffee and milk and put it on the stove. End product is frothy coffee latte. Actually I got the expected result on the 1st day. That’s it. Never again! Cleaned the maker yet never got the same result again. If I am doing something wrong then this maker is not straight-forward. Cleaning is not easy at all due to the shape of maker parts. And most important is the pressure value. Don’t know how best to clean that. So its upto you now.
cappuccino on the cheap
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
Like many people, I enjoy an after dinner treat of cappuccino at a restaurant. It can easily take the place of dessert. One gets the pleasure without the calories! I wanted to make coffee at home. But the only machines I saw were the very pricey electric ones that take up counter space and look like a nightmare to clean. So instead, I got this small Mukka Express which takes no room and can be made on the stove. The tricky part is adjusting the valve for steaming the milk. If done incorrectly, one gets latte – how awful can that be? So, my husband and I, or our guests can order cappuccino and depending on our skill at that moment will get a lovely cappuccino or an equally lovely latte. No one is disappointed!
Good product, very satisfied with it so far

I purchased it about two months ago, it works very well, extremely easy to use and clean. Make sure you use coffee for espresso machines. It always makes a nice foamy cappuccino. It has no frills but is fun and easy to use.
